AI Skills in Demand in 2025

Generative AI, using AI for Research and AI Agents are going to be the most in-demand skills for jobs in the future.

Artificial Intelligence is going to be the center of all the skills that professionals have in the future. From software development and web designing to generating reports and even financial advisory, all of these will require job seekers to have some AI skills.

Below is a list of top AI skills that anyone can learn for free.

1. Generative AI

Generative AI refers to the application of AI in generating text, images, videos, and audio files to use them for various purposes like marketing, education, or any other thing.

This AI skill will be essential in the future as stricter implementation of copyright laws could prevent you from reusing images, and videos that are available on the internet. Further, even today generative texts are extensively used for professional communication, sharing information, doing research, learning, script writing, and even storytelling.

These days, you can see most jobs asking their applicants if they have generative AI skills.

How to Learn Generative AI?

There are plenty of free and paid courses on Generative AI available on platforms like YouTube, Udemy, Coursera, and many others. You can start learning basic things from YouTube and later switch to certified courses.

Alternatively, you can learn yourself by using the following tools.

  • ChatGPT or Grok for texts and images.
  • Canva for videos.
  • Suno.ai for generating songs.
  • Google Gemini for speech generation.

2. AI For Research

Research is going to play a major role in lifting your career this year. Whether you are an IT professional, financial advisor, independent consultant, or are in sales, AI will help you in searching and learning new skills, data, information, and methods to lift your career.

AI for research is a bit different than using generative AI. Here, the focus is more on preciseness and less on communication. In Generative AI, the tone of the text is often flowery and more explanatory, whereas in research, the tone of the same AI model would be precise, pointwise, stepwise, or in simple yes or no (binary).

How to Learn AI for Research?

Due to the varied nature of research in different fields, it is beyond the scope of this article to address every way AI can be used for research.

However, a general answer to this question is: You can learn AI for Research by using Google, Quora, Ask The Public, and a precise AI LLM like GPT-4 (fine-tuning might be required to generate to-the-point answers).

Simply visit Google or any other search engine like Quora and look for your field of interest. For example, my field of interest is AI Agents and hence I will search for it. With just a single search, both Google and Quora will show me questions regarding my field that are in trend.

I can go in depth in these questions and as I click them one by one, more deep questions will arise in this dynamic list.

One more good thing about these questions is as you click them and read, more questions appear both on Google and Quora.

3. AI Agents

AI agents are the next big thing in the tech sector. These agents capable of performing independent tasks just like a real human and can even replace entire teams.

In the future, it is highly likely that people will use these agents for almost every other task which also possesses a threat to many jobs. Those who can leverage an AI agent to perform every task that a team can do will be the ones to save theirs.

How to Learn AI Agents?

There are several free courses on YouTube on how to create and deploy your own AI agent. However, if you are a bit technically challenged like me, you can use ChatGPT, Gemini, or Grok to create the code for an AI agent without having to code a single line yourself.

Alternatively, you can start by renting an AI agent from any marketplace you like and use it to understand it better and then create an agent with no-code platforms.
